Those of you who prefer exploring art cities and attending cultural events will find splendid, unique locations to visit in the surrounding area, once again without travelling any further than 80km. Venice surely needs no introduction; and then there is Possagno, where you can admire the collection of plaster casts (gypsoteca) by the sculptor Antonio Canova; or just a little further away, the famous Arena of Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet; or Padua, where you can marvel at Giotto’s masterpieces.   

If you are planning a full-day excursion, why not consider the splendid Venetian Villas ? Some attractive examples are present in the Belluno area, but the finest can be found along the Brenta Riviera, in the province of Padua. If you prefer a holiday with a historical theme, near Longarone (15km away) you will find the Vajont dam, a grim reminder of what can happen when Man tampers with Nature; or you might like to explore the various itineraries based around the theme of the Great War. 

And we must not forget that the writer, painter and poet Dino Buzzati lived in both Belluno and Limana, where he produced some of his finest works; just a few minutes away from the house where he lived there is a walking path dedicated to the great man. The parish church of Limana also merits a visit, since it lays claim to the mortal remains of Saint Valentine, the patron saint of lovers.
